Cork'd

A bit of a buzz on the internet this week with the opening of this web site. Cork'd is a "web 2.0" site for wine enthusiasts. Seeded with 2500 wines from wine.com, it allows for users to add, review, and tag wines. If you are not familiar with the tagging craze, it simply allows individuals to add tags, or keywords to items to better classify them. So if you tag a wine with "oaky", and are fan of "oaky" wines, then you can search other's tags for similar wines. As hopefully my next job will be more wine oriented, I'm looking forward to using this site as a regular way of tracking tasting, and finding wines to fit the establishment's profile.

I haven't poked around much yet, but it was developed by some crafty web designers, so I trust the interface and back end are solid. It's now simply up to the user base to populate the site.

At long last the archaic laws forced upon Floridians has been cast aside, and we can now experience what most of the country has for years, mail order wine clubs. The Herald's list is a good start at running down some of the popular options as far as wine clubs go. I really am a fan of Bonny Doon vineyards, and their club sounds great.
